How to choose

How to choose, job by job

What to buy for each job, and the numbers to check before you do.

Which tool do I need for garage work and vehicles?

You need: a cordless impact wrench for wheel nuts and bolts. Check: 405 to 550 Nm with a 1/2-inch drive for cars and vans; 850 Nm and up for trucks and heavy machinery (1050 and 1350 Nm models use a 3/4-inch drive). Also useful: socket sets, and the wrench-and-work-lamp kit. See garage tools

Which tool do I need for concrete, brick and walls?

You need: a cordless impact drill. Its hammer action is what gets through masonry. Check: an impact rate in bpm (a plain drill has none), a 13 mm metal chuck, and masonry bits in the box. Range: 55 to 166 Nm on 20V. See drills for masonry

Which tool do I need for woodwork and furniture?

You need: an impact driver for long screws, frames and decking; a compact drill for pilot holes. Check: a 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) hex shank for bits, and 230 to 285 Nm on the 20V drivers. One tool for both: the 2-in-1 driver and wrench. See woodwork tools

Which tool do I need for plumbing and electrical work?

You need: a small 12V drill or impact driver you can hold in one hand in tight spaces. Check: two batteries in the box, and USB-C charging on some models (wall adapter sold separately). See 12V tools

Which tool do I need for metal and fabrication?

You need: a high-torque impact drill for drilling steel, and an impact wrench for bolting. Check: 96 or 166 Nm with a 13 mm chuck for drilling; 550 Nm and up for structural bolts. See fabrication tools

Which tool do I need for home repairs and DIY?

You need: a compact 12V or 20V drill for shelves, furniture and small repairs. Check: bits in the box so you can start straight away; the 12V models are the lightest. See home tools

Plain words

Drill, impact drill, impact driver or impact wrench?

Nm is the twisting force. Match it to the fastener, not the biggest number.

Drill

Drilling and screwdriving in wood, metal and plastic.

13 mm chuck on the 20V models

INGCO 20V compact brushless cordless drill

Impact drill

Adds short, rapid impacts, so it also drills masonry and concrete.

Impact rate in bpm; a plain drill has none

INGCO 20V brushless cordless impact drill

Impact driver

Drives screws: furniture, decking, drywall.

6.35 mm hex shank, 230 to 285 Nm on 20V

INGCO 20V brushless cordless impact driver

Impact wrench

Tightens and loosens nuts and bolts: wheels, machinery, structures.

1/2 or 3/4 inch drive, 405 to 1350 Nm

INGCO 20V brushless cordless impact wrench

Good to know

The numbers, explained

What does torque in Nm mean?

Torque is the twisting force a tool puts on a screw, nut or bolt, measured in Newton-metres (Nm). A higher figure means it can tighten and loosen tougher fasteners, or drive bigger screws.

What is the difference between a 2.0Ah and a 4.0Ah battery?

Capacity and runtime. A 4.0Ah battery stores twice the energy of a 2.0Ah one, so it runs longer between charges and holds power better under heavy load. It is slightly heavier and takes a little longer to charge. For daily heavy use, 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah is the better choice.

Are batteries and the charger included?

On most 20V kits, yes: the product page lists what is in the box. A few tools are sold bare (battery and charger sold separately), and some 12V tools charge by USB-C with the wall adapter sold separately. Check the In the box line on each product.

Do the 20V batteries fit every 20V tool?

The 20V tools are compatible with INGCO 20V batteries and chargers, so one battery can serve several tools. See the 20V Cordless page.

What is a deep socket?

A socket with a longer barrel that reaches nuts on long bolts or studs. The heavy impact wrenches come with deep sockets chosen for truck wheels and machinery.

How do I choose a cordless drill?

Think about the material and screw size (more torque for tough materials), motor type (brushless lasts longer and runs more efficiently), chuck (13 mm metal is the versatile choice), battery capacity and spares, and what accessories are in the box.
